Finished season 2 of
12 Monkeys
This show has no
right being as good as it is considering it’s
on the Sci-Fi network
and that the source material – Terry Gillinghams Twelve Monkeys is such a
classic.
The interesting thing
is they took the general idea of the time loop that is shown in Twelve Monkeys
and expanded on it throwing that initial loop out the window and making the
army of the twelve monkeys an actual group and not just Brad Pitts original
anarchist group before fight club.
The thing is Twelve
Monkeys was just a remake or a reimagining of ‘La Jetee’ a short French film.
So reimagining it
again as a TV show with conspiracy and timey wimey concepts is a crazy way to
go but it works somehow.
The time travel is mind bending at times and it can be extremely stupid but I give a shit about the characters and it seems to be going somewhere.

Both this show and
The Last Ship have been surprising me for the last year or so, both similar
concepts in that they both involve plagues that wipe out humanity but The Last
Ship is more ‘America, Fuck Yeah’.
I just don’t see
these shows talked about anywhere and maybe it’s because they are not on
mainstream networks but I really think they deserve a watch (as in you should
watch them and not they deserve a Golden Rolex for being on TV)
So... I fucked up a bit.
ReplyDeleteIt's been months since your last message to me and i haven't had the good grace to respond. I could give you excuses or legitimate reasons but really, legitimate or not, it doesn't matter, even cowards should reply. And i am a coward, a big one, a gargantuan one in all honesty and that's why i left you hanging. Human contact in any form has become an increasingly confusing experience for me and to hear from you after a decade was... difficult. Not that it was unwelcome - okay, a tiny bit unwelcome because i didn't know what to make of it all initially - just that even though i dwell on the past more than a person should, i don't want to be revisited by it. Does that make sense?
No matter what shit went down with us in the past, i still regard you as one of the best friends i ever had. Life just got in the way and well, life's an intrusive shithead with boundary issues. It was inevitable.
I've done some snooping - because what else is the internet for? - and i see things are better for you now and i'm really fucking glad. Genuinely. Truly. Irrefutably. Keep up the good work, Keenan.
And i'd love to say i'd like to be a part of it but i'm in no fit state to be anybody's anything right now. So, do me a favour and let this message lie. Don't respond but don't beat yourself up about what happened all those years ago. We were kids and things got weird. It happens. You're still the guy that provided some much needed comfort during a truly shitty time in my life and i'll love the very bones of you forever for that.
I've got your email now, so maybe when i re-enter the human race i'll gif bomb you and see what happens.
Remain awesome, Alan J. Keenan.
The Kid.
